The house in good taste

Welcome to Elsie Rooftop

Elsie Rooftop is an homage to Elsie de Wolfe, the pioneering interior designer who revolutionized the field by introducing a more feminine, lighter, and simpler style that broke away from the ornate Victorian decor of her time. Often referred to as Lady Mendle, de Wolfe was a celebrated socialite in New York and Paris, and her influential book, The House in Good Taste, is still considered a classic in the field. Our rooftop venue honors de Wolfe's timeless legacy by providing a stylish and sophisticated setting for our distinguished guests to gather and celebrate life's pleasures.

Elsie de Wolfe, the world's most famous decorator, always knew how to throw a party.

Twenty-five stories up, near Bryant Park, sits the lavish Elsie Rooftop, paying homage to one of society’s most renowned doyennes. Like Lady Mendle herself, Elsie Rooftop knows how to plan event, capitalizing on New York City’s energy and savoir faire. Elsie is truly an all-season destination with sophisticated indoor and outdoor seating options, as well as bespoke cocktails which perfectly compliment the upscale, seasonally-focused light fare menu.

"Be pretty if you can, be witty if you must,
but be gracious if it kills you.”

Elsie de Wolfe
